Stephen W. Flannery Jr. Obituary

Stephen W. Flannery Jr.,70, of Pacific, took his final adventure to God on August 10, 2024. Mr. Flannery, son of the late Stephen W. Flannery Sr. and Martha nee Pritchard, was born on December 11, 1953, in Augusta, GA. After graduation, Mr. Flannery served his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps. On April 15, 1978, he was united in marriage to Margaret “Peggy” Welmering at Ft. Leavenworth Chapel.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, chasing cows, boating and fishing, taking his beloved grandchildren on adventures, driving the road less traveled, watching the Cubs (although we’re not sure why), “friendly” political banter, and taking the long way home. He was always entertaining and never let the truth get in the way of a good story. He was willing to help anyone in need, including getting them into mischief. He raised 3 amazing children; he was strict at times but made sure that they were well-versed in sarcasm. He and his wife, Peggy, were a dynamic duo that had a unique 46-year adventure together no matter where it led.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Edward Gintner, nephews, Randy Masson and Matthew Gintner, Marine Corps brother, Jonathan Kell, and basset hound, Wally.

Among his survivors are his wife, Peggy Flannery of Pacific; three children, Stephen W. Flannery III of Pacific, Jessica Flannery of Pacific, and Jennifer Walsh and husband James of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Julia Walsh, Kinley Flannery, Emilyn Walsh, and Amelia Walsh; siblings, Laura Masson of Wells, ME, Judith Healy and husband Charles of Hudson, NH, and Stephanie Gintner of Ayer, MA; Marine Corps brother, Jack Young, nieces and nephews, Tracy, Tim, Denise, Amie, Allison, David, Robin, Betty, Tiffany, Clark, and Claire, many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and his loving dogs, Cinnamon and Champ.
