Sally G. Guenther

Sally G. Guenther nee Whitaker, 87 , of Catawissa, passed away on July 29, 2022. Ms. Guenther, daughter of the late Charles Whitaker Sr. and Lucy nee Swarm, was born on August 25, 1934 in St. Louis. On August 2, 1952, she was united in marriage to Eugene Guenther in Clay County, Arkansas.

Ms. Guenther was a member of St. James Church in Catawissa, St. James Quilters Club, Meramec Valley Genealogy Society, and the Catawissa Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Guenther; four brothers, David and Charles Whitaker and Samuel and Daniel Kimbrel; two sisters, Kay Gulotta and Barbara Smegner; granddaughter, Julie Ann Guenther, and two son-in-laws, Michael McAuley and Duke Cooper.

Among her survivors are seven children, Christine Ferguson of Lake of the Ozarks, Stephen Guenther and wife Jeanette of Lake of the Ozarks, Richard Guenther of Arnold, Kathy Damico of Pacific, Daniel Guenther and wife Connie of Arnold, Genevieve Cooper of Pacific, and John Guenther of Affton; two sisters, Margie Nash and husband Harold of St. Louis and Betsy Stange and husband Jim of St. Louis; two sister-in-laws, Carol Whitaker of Kentucky and Pat Whitaker of St. James; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Thiebes Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 12 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in St Louis. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
