Richard G. Eckelkamp,86, of Washington, passed away on September 16, 2016 in Washington. Mr. Eckelkamp, son of the late Henry Eckelkamp and his wife Frances NEE Kopp, was born December 12, 1929 in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School. On January 21, 1951, he was united in marriage to Bernice Patke at St. John's Gildehaus Church. He was a great man, devoted employee(Sporlan Valve for 40 years), builder and manager of Pleasant View Apartments, a collector of classic cars and an enthusiastic St. Louis Cardinals fan. Also, an avid traveler, as he had visited Europe, Canada, Mexico, and all over the States. Richard was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, the OLL Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Eckelkamp was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph and Elmer Eckelkamp; five sisters, Leola Swoboda, Agnes Peterson, Mildred Koirtyohann, Esther Kleekamp, and Sally Dean; Also by two great-grandchildren, Margaret and Anthony Ballmann.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Eckelkamp of Washington; two sons, Kevin Eckelkamp and wife Liz and Wendell Eckelkamp and wife Deborah all of Washington; three daughters, Christine Ballmann and husband Tony of Augusta, Michele Worrall and husband Rob of Denver, CO, and Terese Brady and husband Jim of Chicago, IL; Grandchildren, Katherine Nowak, Amy Sullentrup, Jon Ballmann, Danielle Straatmann, Philip, Patrick, and Kelsey Eckelkamp, Courtney and Ashley Brady, Aaron and Ryan Eckelkamp; great-grandchildren, Clara and Evelyn Nowak, Sophia, Louis, and Andrew Sullentrup, Lydia and Noah Eckelkamp, and Jane and Jenna Ballmann; sister-in-laws, Florentine Eckelkamp and Shirley Eckelkamp; other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment was in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. James Theby. Memorials were to the St. Vincent DePaul School, Dutzow.
