Margaret A. Phelan

Margaret A. Phelan, 88, of Pacific, passed away on October 17, 2023. Mrs. Phelan, daughter of the late Henry Brandt and Mary nee Roth, was born on April 11, 1935, in Pacific. She received her education from St. Bridget’s Catholic Grade School and Pacific High School. On May 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Edward J. Phelan Jr. at St. Bridget’s Church in Pacific.

Mrs. Phelan loved to travel, bowl, and play cards. First and foremost, she loved her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward J. Phelan Jr.; two siblings, Robert Brandt and Norma Hoffman, and in-laws, Millie Brandt, Gilbert Hoffman, Neal Howard, and Carroll Miner.

Among her survivors are three children, Lynne Tobey and husband Tom of Pacific, Karen Switcher of Washington, and Susan Wassall and husband Ed of Washington; siblings, Rosemary Howard of Chandler, AZ and Ruth Miner of Villa Ridge; grandchildren, Sheila Pamplin and husband Bill of Davie, FL, Eddie Wassall and wife Christina of Pacific, Jennifer Mizner and husband Travis of Pacific, Kristen Spaunhorst and husband Pete of Washington, Cate Freeman and significant other Matt Morel of Pacific, Matt Wassall and wife Holly of Washington, and Scott Wassall and wife Rose of St. Clair; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Brooke, Olivia, Cooper, Max, Lilah, Carter, Marley, and Adrianna; one great-great-grandchild, Claire; loved ones and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Thiebes Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 1 p.m. at St. Bridget’s Church in Pacific. Interment will be in the St. Patrick’s Rock Church Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to St. Patrick’s Old Rock Church Cemetery Fund, St. Bridget’s Church in Pacific, or the American Juvenile Diabetes Association.
