Herbert “Carrol” Young , 96 , of St. Charles, passed away on September 5, 2021. Carrol, son of the late Ray Young and his wife Mildred nee Gross, was born on  June 29, 1925 in Pacific. He received his education from Pacific High School. Carrol served his country honorably as a member of the United States Coast Guard in WW II. On June 15, 1946, he was united in marriage to Jean Trowbridge at the Presbyterian Church in Columbia, MO.

Mr. Young was a Sinclair Oil Distributor in Franklin County, in addition to being a farmer, which he loved more than any other job he could have done. Carrol was a member of the Pacific Presbyterian Church for 78 years.

Mr. Young was preceded in death  by his parents; son, Mike Young; mother and father-in-law, Warren and Florence Trowbridge; sister, Shirley Gollhofer and her husband, Ray.

Among his survivors are his wife, Jean Young of St. Charles; two children, Steve Young of Long Beach, CA and Kathy Hutson of St. Charles; grandchildren, Jeff Young and wife Kim of Colorado Springs, CO and Melissa Millsap and husband Adam of Bentonville, AR; great-grandchildren, Bela and Owen Millsap and Kaylin and Coleson Young; son-in-law, Don Hutson of St. Charles; nieces, Joyce Sanfilippo and husband Vince of Washington and Diane Gollhofer of Grand Prairie, TX; nephews, David Gollhofer and wife Sissy of Salem, MO and Tom Gollhofer and wife Kim of Salem, MO.

Private graveside services were held at the Sunset Cemetery in Pacific, MO. Memorial donations can be made to the Pacific Presbyterian Church, 410 West St. Louis St., Pacific, MO 63069.
