George "Gene" Conway

George E. “Gene” Conway Sr., 87 , of Pacific, passed away on November 22, 2021. Gene, son of the late Everett Conway and his wife Josephine nee Helm, was born on January 20, 1934 in Sheldon, MO. He received his education from Pacific High School. On May 16, 1952, he was united in marriage to Barbara Peters.

Gene was an operating engineer and member of Local 513 for 70 years. He was also a member of the Pacific Eagles. Gene was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed taking fishing trips to Lake Okeechobee Florida, as well as camping there.

Mr. Conway was preceded in death  by his parents; wife, Barbara Conway; siblings, Mary Cook, Jack Conway, Ed Conway, Linda Houck, Vanessa Crooks, Everett “Butch” Conway, and by five son-in-laws, Robert McDermott, Kenny Ruzicka, Jim Miller, Howard Murphy, and Wayne Hogan.

Among his survivors are four children, Valerie Miller of Fenton, Vicky Murphy of Washington, Georgia Mofield and husband Dennis of Pacific, and George Conway Jr. of Ballwin; siblings, JoAnn Hoffman, Richard Conway, Bob Conway, John Conway, and Mike Conway; grandchildren, Sharon Lammert and husband John, Melissa Winchester and husband Brad, Kathryn Fischer and husband Adam, Joshua Mofield and wife Stephanie, and Jacob Mofield and significant other Allie Miller; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Stanton Fischer, Halle Fischer, Skylar McElwain, Julia Lammert, Drew Fischer, Sophia Velasquez, Emerysn Mofield, Alicia Velasquez, Charley Mofield, Zoey Fischer, and Colt Mofield; other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 10-12 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Thiebes Funeral Home, with a funeral service beginning at 12 p.m. Interment will be in the St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Pacific. Memorial donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
