The sweet and incorrigible Allen J. Shearin, 88, of Catawissa, passed away on January 2, 2019. The son of the late Thomas Shearin and his wife Edna NEE Mattern, was born January 26, 1930 in St. Louis. He was a graduate of Hadley High School. On November 25, 1954, he married his love Doris White in Hillsboro, MO. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Allen was employed by the United States Postal Service in St. Louis as a Supervisor until his retirement. Mr. Shearin served his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps seeing active duty in the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Shearin and two brothers in infancy.

He leaves behind his wife Doris Shearin of Catawissa; six children, Laura Shearin of Catawissa, Donna Buckowitz and husband Jim of Edmundson, Mary Shearin of Long Beach, CA, Timothy Shearin of Lake St. Louis, Mickey Shearin and husband Jeff Anderson of Imperial, and Thomas Shearin and wife Kimberly of Villa Ridge; sisters, Rosemary Welsh of Wildwood and Margaret Shearin of Manchester; nine grandchildren, Allison, Monica, Natalie, Mikal, Kristofer, Wryleigh, Colton, Courtney, and Branden; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, James, Audrey, William, Blake, and Sadie; In Laws, Doris Shearin, Dolores Salisbury, Pat Kozlowski, Gloria Curneal, Rita Boeving, Elaine Stromberg, and Martha Brune. "Big Al" to family and friends will be sorely missed. Another angel has gained his wings.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 3-8 P.M. at Nieburg-Vitt,Thiebes Funeral Home, with the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 10 A.M. at St. James Church in Catawissa. Interment with full military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
